"When Erik is resurrected..." ~Adam
"...I'll show him this cool toy." "We can take him to this park", "I'll snuggle with him in my blanket"...
One of the things I love about children is how simple their faith is. Their parents say it, and they believe it. After we lost Erik we told the kids that he is in heaven and we will be reunited with him in heaven or after the resurrection, whichever comes first. I know there will come a day when they will question their faith and need to find their own, but for now I appreciate the trust they have given us to share with them our faith.
Adam has been so sweet when it comes to Erik's absence. At least once a week Adam will be doing something fun and comment on how he can't wait to share that experience with Erik. He plans to teach him how to do many things, take him to a number of fun locations and be a great big brother to him. It is really sweet.
The kids have been doing well with Erik's passing. When the boys are tired they will sometimes come into our room and cry saying they miss Erik. Even though I know they miss him what that usually means is that they just need an excuse to snuggle in our bed. Sarah had a really hard time at first, but has been doing better also.
This Easter has had more meaning to me than any other. I have believed in the Savior and His resurrection for a long time, but this year I felt it even more. It applies to me in a new way. Not only will I one day be able to get to know deceased grandparents, and spend more time with loved ones gone to soon, I have a child that will be waiting for me to raise him. I will get to be with Erik again. What a gift. What a wonderful, miraculous, incomprehensible gift. I am so thankful to my Savior Jesus Christ for living, suffering, dying and being raised from the dead so that I can some day be with my son again. I love him and am grateful for this gift and the many others he has given me.
Here is a video I played for the kids in my class today. I love this song. My younger sister Ashley must have sang this version for me at sometime because whenever I hear this arrangement I always hear her voice singing it.
Yesterday we went to Erik's cemetery for an event they do for the major holidays. The kids made luminaries and we placed flowers in Erik's vase and gave Lilly some Easter lillies. Steven also found some pine cones to add as decoration.
I hope you all had a memorable Easter.

Spring sports
Both of the boys have started playing spring sports.
First up is Adam that asked to play soccer. Although I didn't volunteer to be a coach they were desperate so I get the "opportunity" to coach again. :) I tried to talk him into cute teal or red jerseys but he insisted on the blue. As I was walking out to the car I realized they are the same color as Sarah and Steven's when I coached their team three years ago.
Here are my cute Blue Dragons on the field. (Adam and Steven helped choose the name and you can see their influence in Steven's team name below)
Here's a video of Adam with the ball.
Steven didn't ask to play tee-ball but a group of kids from the neighborhood are all on the same team so Steven decided to join. Their first game was REALLY cold, so they cut it short, but it was long enough for Steven to make a great hit. Go Red Dragons! (Can you guess who chose the name?)

House update
There has been a lot of progress done on our home. On the 24th Mike and I had a meeting with the site foreman to go over the layout of the house and make sure they had all the lights and electrical correct. After that we had four days to put in any low voltage electrical we wanted before they started sheetrocking. Here are some pictures of the progress
March 14th- Plumbing and electric are going in
March 18th- Windows!
March 20th- We have a roof!
March 31st- They start sheetrocking!
April 1st- Getting ready to work on the outside
April 4th- Sheetrock and brick work done.
April 6th- Wall texturing done.
I love how fast it's moving now. It's looking like they'll be able to finish early which is great news.
