Sarah is a daddy's girl through and through. While Mike was in school she would insist that he came and said good night no matter what time he got home. Sometimes she would wake up a little and insist he "snuggle", which meant lying on her floor for a few minutes. Sometimes she wouldn't wake up, but she somehow always knew if he came in. If he forgot a night, she would wake up crying in the morning because he didn't say good night to her.
The new routine is that he always has to say good bye in the morning no matter how early he leaves. This morning she woke up at 6:30 AM. She normally just comes into our room, but she decided to call for Mike a couple times. He was playing church ball, so I called back to her and told her he was playing basketball. She went silent, so I figured she'd fallen back to sleep. A few minutes later I heard her talking to herself and what sounded like crying. When I went into her room she was sitting up in bed, holding the picture of Mike she keeps next to her bed, and sobbing. She was so sad because she thought Mike had gone to work w/o saying good bye and it would be hours before she'd see him again. She came and snuggled with me until Mike got home a few minutes later and then snuggled with him. She was sad, but it was very sweet. Hopefully she does okay during his trainings and deployments.

Steven sings the ABC's
Although his ABC's aren't perfect, I just think it's so sweet to listen to. He and Mike sing the ABC's together every night. My favorite part is lmnop. :-) I'm sorry for my singing at the end.
I also wanted to show these cute pictures of him with his friends, the worms. He loves creepy crawly things. Sarah had a PJ party with some friends and Steven found a worm to play with while the girls watched their show.

Project #1- Check!
While Mike has been in school a lot of things have been put on the back burner. We have a short list of things around the house that we would like to get done during our free time. Since we're still in the honeymoon stage of having so much of Mike's time, it will probably take us a while, but that's ok.
Project #1 was sanding and painting Sarah's new bed. She was really sad when she found out the boys would be sharing a room and would get a bunk bed, because she really wanted one. There were even tears. (she's a fantastic actress) Mike's little brother Andy is in Army basic training right now, so we confiscated his bed, with permission, and turned it into a loft bed for Sarah. I still want to hang some drapes in front to make it a clubhouse of sorts, but that will be in a few weeks.
Here is the bed before.

And here it is after. Both the kids love it.

We let them paint on one of the bed boards, and will let them finish on Monday. We figure a little kid mural will be a fun thing for them to look up at while they play.

Sarah's Preschool Graduation
On Wednesday Sarah "graduated" from Little Learners Academy. Well, kind of. :-) The rest of her class will be going on to kindergarten this fall, but Sarah has another year of preschool. She has loved her year at Little Learners.
Here she is on her first day of school

And after graduation (and a wardrobe change)

Sarah and her class. Sarah really loved her teacher Miss Debby. One day we were doing the "who do you love more" talk and she said she loved me and her teacher's equal, because she didn't want to hurt any ones feelings. She later decided it's OK to love me more, but it was close for a while. ;-)

Sarah received the "Christmas Spirit" award. I was confused when they first announced it, and then they explained. Sarah did a lot of proselytizing this year in school. She liked to talk about Jesus and even gave Miss Debby a picture of Jesus that she has hung in her home.

I thought Sarah would be disappointed at not going to Kindergarten with her friends, but she said she isn't ready for it yet, and is looking forward to another year at Little Learners.

Gone Fishin'
There are many things we do for love, and for me, fishing is one of them. :-) Yesterday we took the kids to a pond in Herriman with their little kid poles. Steven was completely content casting and reeling, but Sarah wasn't quite as patient. She likes to fish, but expects the fish to bite almost immediately. There was a dead fish not far from where we were sitting and Steven REALLY wanted to catch it. Yuck! :-)We didn't go at a great time and thus didn't catch any fish, but it was a fun little trip.
