Random June

It had been a while since we'd visited Wheeler Farm, so we took Audrey.

I love finding these gems on my phone. :)

Mike had his first flight as a fully qualified Delta first officer on the 15th.

Hill AFB Air Show

It had been years since Hill was able to have an air show, so Mike volunteered to be there and the kids and I came up for the day. Roland and his family came as well and we all enjoyed some LOUD and cool entertainment. Thankfully Roland's mom remembered ear wear and let Audrey borrow some. The F 35 is incredible, but definitely earns it's name as the loudest fighter plane.

Estes Park for Grandma Bonk's 65th birthday

We decided to come to Estes Park for my mom's 65th birthday, and had most of our family there. We had family dinner and helped Ash and Dave set up their fourth vacation rental in Estes Park.

The highlight of the trip was taking the kids to the stocked fish pond in town. It cost an absolute fortune (relatively speaking) but the fish were jumping onto the hooks and the kids had a blast.

We finished the trip with a visit to the mountain coaster. All of the kids love it, especially Audrey. She'd ride with whomever would take her down. One the way home we found some friendly rodents at a rest stop. :)

Another Drop 13 Half Marathon and another World Record

Well, I didn't say it was MY world record. ;) On Saturday, June 11th, I ran the Big Cottonwood Canyon Drop 13 half marathon. This is my favorite course and favorite race. I didn't train as much as I should have, but it's an easy course to do well on. I was on a bus by 4 AM and finished around 8 AM. I didn't get a PR, but I did fine. It was WARM towards the end and I wussed out and let myself walk a little bit the last couple miles. Not the end of the world, but I don't usually do that, so I was a bit disappointed in myself. I've had a harder time caring about racing lately. I think my old age (and back/hip issues) have made me less competitive. I finished in 1:48:32 which is an 8:17 pace.

The funnest part of the day was my friend David Baker setting a new Guinness Book of World record for the fastest half marathon while wearing full Scottish regalia. He always runs in a kilt, and added all of the record required extras to ensure authenticity. He came in at a speedy 1:29, which was about 15 minutes faster than the previous record. He had to be recorded the entire time and have two witnesses sign affidavits. He also took second in his age group, which is always fun.

Audrey's first Bee's game (I think)

I'm not sure if this was Audrey's first Bee's game, but it's the first Bee's game she remembers. We went with Mike's unit and brought Gray along. Audre couldn't get enough of the train and rode it at least four times. It was a good day.

End of the school year fun

I love the end of the school year. By the end of May/beginning of June we're all done. The kids are over school, and I'm over their being over it. ;) It is a complete win/win as we usher in another summer. I failed to get last day of school photos. (again)

Sarah received a number of awards and one a couple she can wear when she graduates. The first award was for the CTE Student of the year. She also received her first and second academic letters.

Steven "graduated" from Junior High and is moving onto the High School. Yes, he'd going to be a Freshman. His teachers and admins love him and we're grateful we all survived.

Adam escaped the bands of being a sixlet and will now be a middle child Sevey. Audrey and I volunteered at his field day and bought a round of slushies for a ton of kids. An afternoon well spent. (I didn't get a picture of Adam because he was running around like a crazy person)
