Random July

Adam taught Audrey his signature look. ;)

She was being a scary scarecrow on Halloween and I loved that she actually made a "scary" face behind the mask. She has a great personality.

Mosey got in a fight with something and lost. Her eye was really bad and we found out she had a "melting ulser", so basically her eye would melt if we didn't pay hundreds of dollars on Vet visits and medication. Lucky for her, we tolerate her. ;)

Timp Half Marathon

Sarah and I volunteered at the Timp Half a couple years ago, but this was my first time running it. I didn't bring enough layers for the cold start line, but the race went pretty well. This race has a beautiful start line and the course is nice the whole way. My time was 1:55, which is pretty slow for me, but that's about all I had in me, and I allowed myself to walk towards the end.

Boy backpacking trip

Adam had a backpacking trip planned with his Deacons group and Mike talked Steven into joining them since Adam's class is small. From what I heard, they had a good time. Cliffs were jumped and air was fresh. Sarah and I watched a chick flick.

Ragnar NW Passage with the Fat Boys

Some friends of mine are part of a running circle that get invited to run on a Ragnar team sponsored by Fat Boys Ice Cream. I've always been a bit envious, because it looked fun and entry was free. My friend Ken Whiting, the guy usually in charge, FINALLY ;) invited me to be on their NW Passage team.

The race started on Friday, so we left Wednesday afternoon to allow travel time with a little sight seeing on the way to Washington. Our first stop was Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls ID and then on to Pendleton, OR. I had to stop and take a picture in front of the Twin Falls Temple. My van took pictures with us in them, so I'll have to track them down.

Second day we traveled first to Snoquamie Falls and then on to Seattle where I got to see the great wall of gum.

The race started in Bellingham. After our first day of running we decided to sleep next to a bridge in a park. None of us got much sleep, but it was nice to rest.

After the race we rode a ferry back across Puget Sound to start our trek home. There are a lot of pictures that I need to download from the computer and add.

Do it! ~Audrey Rose

While I was off galevanting in WA, Mike took Audrey to his parent's pool and got a fantastic video of Audrey diving. Her personal pep talk is the best!

Tagging along to Jackson Hole

Mike was on a four day trip with Delta when he realized that he stopped in SLC, then went to Jackson Hole for the night, then returned to SLC in the AM. He, and then we, thought this would be a great opportunity for me to tag along on the trip. The big kids were home for summer break, so we left Sarah in charge for a night. (Everyone survived)

On the flight Mike made an announcement that there was a very special person sitting in my seat. One of the flight attendants brought be a bag of goodies, thinking I was someone cool. ;) As people disembarked from the plane they all tried to catch a glimpse of me to see if I was famous. They were probably all disappointed when they found out I was no one special.

We walked around town and ate and a Mexican restaurant called the something Pig. It was good.

Happy Birthday Adamuss Coolius Awesomuss!

On July 10th we got to celebrate this awesome kid's 12th birthday. He's only one year away from being a teenage. (Heaven help us!) ;) He decided he wanted coffee cake for breakfast, and then he proceeded to play a great deal of video games. (It's the middle of November and I can't remember. I'm on the phone with Mike and he thinks he took the boys to Nicklecade. Someday I'll blog when things happen. It's not January. He felt loved, and that's all that mattered.) :)

Here is his birthday interview

Adam is a wonderful part of our family. He is a great big brother to Audrey, and although he may bicker with his older siblings, he loves them and loves being around them. We are very grateful to have him as a part of our family. Happy Birthday sweet boy!

Floatin' down the Provo River

Floating down the Provo River has been on our bucket list, so we decided to do it while we had Mike home. It was fun. We packed a cooler, rented tubes, and got dropped off up stream. It was slow going, and definitely a lazy activity, but we all enjoyed ourselves. We tried to stay together at times, but we'd separate, and Amelia had a run in with a giant water bush/tree, but came out relatively unscathed. At the pull out we discovered a tree swing, so Mike and Steven showed off their skills.

4th of July 5k part 2

There should have only been one part to this, but since I like to complicate things, I made it two parts. ;) My friend Heidi and I decided to sign up for the Riverton City Freedom race. We were looking forward to it, and even had matching shirts. I went to the running store to pick up our packets a couple days before the race and the store employee looked at me funny. Apparently their 4th of July race had been on the 2nd of July. Neither Heidi nor myself noticed that important fact. We both still wanted a race, so we found the Sandy 4th of July race and signed up. I ran into my Team RWB friends. We took it easy and enjoyed the run together and got green smoothies after.

Mike breaks 200

No, I'm not talking about his weight. ;) For the first time in his short, 41 years of life, Mike broke 200 while bowling. It was a momentous occasion that he to be documented and blogged for posterity purposes.
