Happiest of Halloweens!

I wish I weren't blogging this in the middle of May, but alas, it's better late than never. This was one of our funnest themes so far. (Mainly because I liked my costume the best) We chose to do The Wizard of Oz. Sarah was Dorothy, Mike was scarecrow, I was Glenda and Adam was a lollypop kid. Steven wanted nothing to do with the theme, so he was a ninja. Again. :)

We were a little behind on Halloween preparations due to Mike being gone, so we didn't carve pumpkins until the 30th. Mike also had surgery on his nose on the 30th, so he got out of bed long enough for some trick or treating, but was otherwise pretty miserable. :)

Happy Halloween Erik!

We decorated a pumpkin for Erik and took it to him a few days before Halloween. We all wrote him little notes on it. I wonder if people ever pass things like this and walk a little closer to see what's written. Just a random thought. I certainly wouldn't mind, because everyone visiting a cemetery is doing so because they miss the person the left before them. Happy Halloween Erik! We all love and miss you!

Steven's first 5k

A few days before Halloween Steven ran the Herriman High School Halloween 5k. The crowd was split up into humans and zombies. We chose to be human, which meant we had to run from other racers that had chosen to be zombies and were after our flags. This was great motivation for Steven and made it easy for me to get him to run faster when he started to lag. :) Mike and the other kids came to support us, but it was so cold they all waited in the car. Steven's piano teacher Chloe is a cheerleader there so he got to see her. Since we could dress up for it, Steven decided we'd be ninjas. Steven finished in 31:02 for a pace of 9:57/mi which is great, especially for his first race. He was excited to win a board game even though the directions are so complicated I doubt we'll ever play it. Great job Dude!

Florida Part 7- Animal Kingdom, AKA Coolest DW Park Ever!

We saved the best for last. On Tuesday we visited Animal Kingdom. This usually isn't everyone's favorite, but it was definitely ours. We'd heard the Avatar ride was busy, so headed straight there when we arrived. We hurried there but we were still an hour from the front of the line. It was worth every minute! They created the line to be able to accommodate a six hour wait. Everything was really detailed and interesting. The ride, AMAZING! It simulated you riding on a Banshee and the seats you're in even simulate it breathing while you grip the sides. We got in line later and did it again. Definitely the highlight for all of us.

Steven continued to find lizards all over the park which kept him entertained and happy. We rode a couple other rides in the park. Fun, but no Avatar.

The kids LOVED the safari. They had some cool animals to look at. They kept pointing and insisted I take a picture of everything. It was a great day.

Florida Part 6- Universal Studios

When we were planning out which park to attend each day we had to take into account the weather. Since so many Universal Studios rides are inside CGI's we chose to visit Universal on the days it was raining. We still had a lot of fun and were glad we had rain gear.
