Random May

Adam overtakes Mike

Let it be known that on this day, the 31st day of May in the year 2025, that Adam has officially overtaken Mike as the tallest male in the family. A proud day for Adam, and a dismal day for his father.

Herriman Rodeo

We took Audrey and Ruth to the rodeo and they had a blast. Sarah, David, Steven, and Lynzee joined us later. (Steven and Lynzee left before I could get pictures I guess. We took our older kids years ago, and they didn't love it, but this year seemed to be more fun. They loved all of the events. There were a couple riders that got hurt, and that pulled at the heartstrings, but news came later that they were okay. Audrey and Ruth participated in the "money cow" event, but weren't aggressive enough to win anything. Audrey got beat up by the mechanical bull and vowed to never do it again. I guess we'll see.

Audrey's Kindergarten Graduation

Well folks, she did it! Audrey graduated from Kindergarten. We didn't really doubt she would, but any excuse to take cute pictures is good for me. She had a great first year of school. She only went for half the day which was perfect for her as well as us. She made new friends and adored her Teacher Tessa Ashworth.

Sarah's Mission Pictures

I blogged about these on Sarah's Mission Blog, but want them in our family blog book as well. I loved ALL of the pictures, but I'll limit myself to a few. We hired Kayla Trujillo with Truly Photography and had them taken at the Provo City Center temple. It's Sarah's favorite temple and was the perfect backdrop.

Audrey's Spring Recital

Audrey played Go Tell Aunt Rodey for her spring recital and did a wonderful job. She is my first child to learn with the Suzuki method and I can see why people talk about it's effectiveness. Audrey has come a long way in the past six months.

End of an era- Mike is done with Test

Since January 2023 Mike has been the director of the test detachment for the KC-135. I told him to give me an explanation of his job, and this is what he said: KC-135 Test Detachment Director - Led the team tasked with finding and testing modifications of the KC-135 that would make it more combat effective and more survivable in future conflict with near-peer adversaries. (Essentially… modify the tanker so it can do its job and not get shot down in a war.)

Here are some new articles Mike is in that correlate to his job and service. He was even on the news a couple times. (I can't find the news clips and one of the articles, but it's fine, he hates being in the spotlight anyways)

Latter-day Saint pilot calls rare statewide air refueling flyover a ‘career highlight’

Making the ‘connected battlespace’ a reality

They were finally able to find a suitable replacement, so Mike took his team to dinner. Although he isn't going to miss being the boss, he's going to miss working with this group.
