Yellowstone and Bear World

Last week we took a vacation with Mike's parents to Yellowstone National Park and Bear World. This trip will be memorable for many reasons.

On Monday we drove into Yellowstone. I was hoping we'd see some wildlife, and wasn't let down. There were elk and bison everywhere. We visited the mud pots and then drove to Old Faithful. Sarah wasn't feeling well, and the driving was getting to me also, so we hung out in the Old Faithful lodge for a while.

Sarah was getting a fever, so we headed back to the hotel room. Mike went to the store to get some children's Tylenol. About five minutes after giving her some, she had another Febrile Seizure. This was her third seizure, and although we knew what was happening, it was still scary. She was out of it for a few minutes afterwards, and then her fever was high. Yellowstone doesn't have any medical care after 5 PM except for their volunteer EMT's in the fire department, so we took a trip to Rexburg, ID to have her looked at. Her fever was just a fever, but we had to alternate between Tylenol and Ibuprofen to control her fever.

On Tuesday Sarah and I just stayed in the hotel to get some rest while Mike went with his Mom and Steven back into Yellowstone. They ended up driving around the whole park in a loop and saw a neat waterfall and a lot of beautiful flora. They even saw a bald eagle in its nest.

The highlight of every ones trip was our visit to Bear World in Rexburg, ID on the way home. For $55/car you can see dozens of bears as well as other wildlife. They also have a fun little petting zoo and some kiddie rides. Sarah and Steven loved the rides and when on each one at least twice.

Wow, that is scary about Sarah having some seizures. Great job on handling the situation well. And that is funny about visiting Bear World. I saw that place many times as I went to Ricks College. I've never been though!
